Antonin Dvořák’s explosive Symphony No. 7, together with No. 8 and No. 9 , represent Dvořák at his best, and they each reveal a somewhat different aspect of his personality. No. 7 is the most ambitious in structure, and the most consciously international in its message. The Dvořák specialist John Clapham writes that "without doubt" the No. 7 "must surely be Dvořák's greatest symphony" .
At our preview of the second Symphony concert of the season, we will enjoy a plated luncheon, and will again welcome Maestro Daniel Stewart, who will offer to us a tantalizing glimpse into the works to be performed at the concert; he will also bring our very own Concertmaster, Nigel Armstrong, with him to further expound on the music from a performer’s perspective.
This event has now been fully subscribed. Please join us at the next Preview event, “Catharsis”, on January 31, 2020.
